WATER BALLAST SYSTEM
Ballast tank: Macgregor boat builders developed the water ballast concept --it’s now the trailerable sailboat industry standard.
FULL --she has heavy stability for sailing. After launch, you open her transom valve and gravity fills a tank in the bottom of her hull with 1400 lbs. of water, which makes her a very stable sailboat. In fact, she's self-righting when her water ballast tank is full --so she returns to upright after being pulled over on her side, even with her sails set.
EMPTY --she's light weight for powering and trailering. You empty her tank for speed while under power or when you're ready to float her back onto her trailer: this feature makes her trailering package lighter than most small powerboats. Her relatively flat bottom is ideal for high speed power.
STANDING RIGGING
Rig is especially designed for trailering. One person can raise and lower the mast by hand. The mast lifts using a “gin pole” setup with a small brake winch that cranks it both up and down. The mast is light and is left in place while sailing or when left on a mooring.
ACCOMMODATIONS
Cabin: Weather tight with large companionway, entry steps, standing headroom, comfortable for family cruising with sofa and dinette seats easily convertible to comfortable berths.
Galley: To port, has lots of storage space with sink, counter space, butane stove, and standard kitchen counter height. The table seats four people comfortably.
Berths: Large double berth forward with overhead ventilation hatch on the foredeck. The table converts to a double berth, and there's a 6 ft 6” x 5 ft 9” berth with sitting headroom. Cockpit seats 6’ long, used for sleeping on fair nights.
Head: Enclosed compartment with portable removable head.
