This Sailboat is the prototype for an electric auxiliary, self charging infinite range boat. The electric engine is a dream. Nearly totally silent, the motor no longer spoils the peacefulness of sailing. The motor can be on in standby and used instantly if needed. Beyond that it is much more reliable than an internal combustion motor. There is no raw water coming into the boat, no transmission, no exhaust, and very few moving parts. The motor manufacturer boasts 50,000 hours of maintenance free operation. There is no fuel or oil on board to leak or smell. No fumes or exhaust to annoy and endanger. The range goes down the faster one motors but at 5 knots in flat seas the system has about 100 Nautical Miles of range, which can be extended. Using a combination of Wind, Solar and Current generation this boat can recharge while cruising. This boat has a sailing to motoring ratio of 4:1 to maintain a charge, but can always take on power from shore if more motoring is required.
