25' Multihull Centre UK Summer Twins 25

A rare opportunity to purchase a Summer Twins 25. It's a very painful decision to sell my beloved 25-ft sailing catamaran due to postgraduate study commitment. I purchased the boat 1.5 years ago as a project and have since invested a lot in refitting the boat, though this is still yet to be finished today.

This British-designed sailing catamaran is a Summer Twins 25, built by the reputed Pat Patterson who based its design on the already famous Heavenly Twins 26. Unfortunately, there are only 9 Summer Twins 25 built due to its high production cost (but hence very high build quality). The boat is nearly 30 years old now, but it remains solid, reliable, and in good shape overall without any hull leakage.

Please note that this is a project boat nonetheless, with tasks inside the cabin yet to be finished by the next good owner. In the summer of 2017 though, I have completed most tasks on the hull and on the deck, along with some tasks in the cabin. Here's a list of tasks done:

-Fully sanded down the hull (below water-line) and Coppercoated 3 layers. Coppercoat is basically a premium substitute for anti-foul. A friend of mine who also owns a Summer Twin 25 uses coppercoat and his hull has not have barnacles for 10 years. Part of the left rudder should be recoated though, as after a year on dry land some areas have flaked off.

-Removed rotten teak deck (non-proper wood planks were used by the previous owner) and fully sanded the whole deck (except cockpit back edge) and repainted with new marine paint (3 undercoat 2 white gloss top coat), with non-slip sands in most areas.

-Two new aft acrylic windows were made, one has already been installed. (The old owner for some reason filled the two original aft window holes). Also removed most rusted window nuts and bolts and replaced with A4 Marine Grade ones.

-Removed most old linings ( old wood planks stuck to spray foam on walls), re-lined half of the cabin with foam-back foil XPE foam - good for insulation and anti-condensation. White vinyl sheets awaiting to be glued on to this insulation layer, but all the vinyl sheets have been bought.

-Newly installed head basin, tap, and floor (wood coated with white paint and water seal). Broken fibre-glass around the basin (old owen broke it in order to fit a larger basin...) re-fibre-glassed.

-New galley tap installed, and also new wooden table top.

-New 125L water tanks installed (one in each aft cabin, total 250L existing 100L water tank forward) and already-rerouted water system with new water pipes.

-Electricity system: most of the old wires have been rewired from the old system new electricity panel installed. Also new 12V sockets throughout the cabin. New voltmeter USB charger.

-Solar charging system added (panels, wires, and MPPT solar charger battery monitor). 120W x 2. Have 1 more solar panel spare. New solar panel frame.

-New batteries x 2. Each 220AH (connected in parallel).

-New engine remote control cable installed (Morse Cable 33C). Also reconnected the wheel and the Morse control unit.

-Head sail was originally missing but I found a 2nd-hand head sail, good condition but needs to be be re-sewn on one edge as it's been ripped off.

-New gasoline tank 22L (plus another old but good one). New fuel lines and fuel connectors. The fuel system supports 2 outboard engines, each separate from each other (so if one engine dies, the other still works unaffected). All installed.

-Resealed all skin fittings with 3M 5200 Marine Grade sealant.

-Re-glued keel protectors (a thick plank of fibre-glassed wood below the keel) with 3M 5200 Marine Grade sealant. Repaired some old damages. Note that the keel protectors were added by a previous owner - they can be removed without damaging the integrity of the original keels but, then again, it's good to keep them there as some extra protection.

-New 811S Plastimo headstay drum furler installed (second-hand but mint condition).

-New VHF (Lowrance Link-8) installed and connected to the antenna with new cable. Old antenna was at the top of the mast but has been damaged long ago and is difficult to replace without an expert. The new VHF system has the antenna wired to the solar panel frame, working as fine.

-New chartplotter installed (Raymarine a67 with wifi, E70163). New transducer (Raymarine P48) connected to the chartplotted and wired & attached to the left forward hull.

-New autopilot system installed (socket and cable). (Raymarine ST1000)

-New wood cover in right aft cabin.

-2nd-hand but good, working fridge installed (Electrolux 3 way camping fridge 40L). It works on AC power only but it also functions as a cool-box on its own.
