41' Morgan 41 Classic

We've got a 1988 Morgan 41 Classic for sale. This is not your grandfathers Out Island but Catalina Yachts updated version known as the Classic, which maintains the original Out Island profile and interior volume but added a number of practical refinements to an already successful design. The Classic comes with 411 draft, a long fin keel and skeg rudder for improved performance at sea and in close quarters. This is a big 41 with lots of headroom and stowage - very comfortable underway and at anchor, where you spend the majority of your time. Abundant custom cabinetry and numerous systems upgrades through-out. Well outfitted for cruising, not a dock queen. All systems designed for extended live-aboard cruising.
Vessel overview and history

The Papy Jovial (happy grandfather in Haitian creole) is a 1988 Morgan 41 Classic, which is not to be confused with the Morgan 41 Out Island; they look the same but there are some significant differences. As you may know, Catalina Yachts purchased Morgan in the mid 1980's and made a number of refinements to an already successful design. The Classic maintains the popular high-volume interior of the 41 Out Island, with its generous accommodations, stowage and tankage, but was built using structural molded interior hull liner modules to reduce weight and construction man hours. Of note, Catalina improved the hull with a long fin keel (4' 11" draft) with a full skeg rudder and a well-balanced sloop rig for better sailing/maneuvering performance and easier sail management underway. The cockpit and interior benefited by a number of subtle enhancements that improved ergonomics throughout. This boat sails well and is very comfortable as a home afloat for a typical cruising family.. Boat is currently in Marathon, in the Florida Keys.

1) Sails and running rigging: North cruising sails in 2010; 115% furling headsail w/foam luff and Harken furling, full batten main with three reefs on Harken fast track ball bearing mast track system & stack pack. Rigid boom vang. Jib pole on mast track. Self-tailing Lewmar and Harken winches for sheets and halyards. Halyards and reefing lines lead to mast base. Mast pulpits. Mast Steps.
2) Rigging - standing and running: all is in good condition. Standing rigging replaced in Australian in 2011.
3) Mechanical: New 44HP Beta in 2012 (750 hours) & 100 amp alternator. Vari-Prop 3 blade feathering propeller. Dual Racor fuel filters. Fuel capacity 80 gallons. Shaft trued, cutless bearing, carrier bearing and stuffing box replaced in 2017. Fire Boy automatic fire suppression system. Large engine compartment.
4) Ground tackle: beefy Maxwell horizontal 12V windlass with foredeck and cockpit controls. Dual anchor roller and split chain locker. Rocna 55# primary w/160 5/16 HT chain and 100 rode. Secondary anchor is a 44# Bruce w/75 5/16chain and 200 3/4 three strain nylon. Third anchor is a 22# Danforth with 35 5/16 chain and 150 5/8 three strand nylon.
5) Monotor self steering vane, removed and stored below custom vee-berth shelf for coastal cruising.
6) Safety: six man Plastimo canister life raft (2011 & due for recertification), EPIRB, USCG required safety inventory.
7) DC electrical: three 100 watt solar panels on stainless stern arch, Rutland 914 wind generator (currently non-op), Victron battery monitor, 6ea 6-volt lead acid batteries (2016) as house bank plus separate engine start GP27 (2019), LED cabin and nav lights.
8) AC electrical: 30 amp shore power. Pro-Mariner 12-40 charger (2014). Xantrex 2000 watt inverter (2014). Six gallon water heater (2014) with custom dual voltage heating element: 500 watt AC and 300 watt DC (in 2019) allows you to make hot water from surplus solar using inverter or solar. Water cooled 10000 BTU A/C heat pump (hot and cold) in salon and forward cabin.
9) Tender: 9' 6 AB aluminum RIB. Two OB's - 5hp Johnson and 15hp Yamaha (both 2 cycle) with hoist tackle. Back-up tender is an 8 6 Achilles roll-up dinghy with plywood transom and floor boards lightly used stored on deck forward of mast in blue Sunbrella canvas cover.
10) Navigation electronics & entertainment: Garmin 741XS plotter/radar/sounder in 2017. Navico hydraulic auto pilot. RayMarine digital depth sounder. Icom 702 VHF at nav table w/RAM mic at helm plus separate Standard VHF at helm (2016). Toshiba 14 flat screen TV with digital antenna and DVD player in salon cabinet. West Marine AM/FM/CD player with Blue Tooth & aux input, salon and cockpit speakers.
11) Galley: Three-burner Princess propane range w/oven and broiler (2013). Three 2.5-gallon aluminum LPG tanks in custom aft deck enclosure. New Propane control with dual sniffers in 2016. Separate top-loading 12V Adler Barbour frig and Technautics cold plate freezer with dedicated air-cooled compressors. Dual galley sinks. Dual cartridge filtered water tap at galley sink. Two-hundred-gallon water capacity. Abundant custom cabinets and ample counter space. Generous stowage for provisions behind and below salon settees.
12) Air conditioning, heating and ventilation: 10000 BTU AC heat pump in main salon and forward cabin. DC cabin fans throughout. Four opening deck hatches and 17 newer cam-lock Lewmar opening port lights w/screens, seven of which have acrylic Port Visors
