s/v Rachel J Slocum is a beautiful, custom designed and built, ready-to-go world cruising staysail schooner. She was designed by
Yves-Marie Tanton and
David Pedrick (wing keel). After three years in the famous Ta Shing Yard in Taiwan, she was launched in 1989. Since then, she has completed a world circumnavigation via Cape of Good Hope & Cape Horn, including fast crossings of the Pacific Ocean (seven times), Indian Ocean (twice) and Atlantic Ocean (twice).
She is rigged to be easily handled by one person or a couple. Her 5 sails, totaling over 1,000 sq ft of sail area is distributed for safety and versatility in any weather conditions. This sail plan makes her a fast 8-knot cruiser at any point of sail and in most sea conditions. The forward and downward sonar allows for explorations off the beaten path.
s/v Rachel J Slocum has been surveyed twice in the past 1.5 years. April 2019 and September 2020. The hull, deck, rigging, sails and engine are all in great working order, of high quality and quite recent.
