This is a special boat. It was a joint venture project between Hunter and Elco to create an electrically driven sailboat. Hunter created two of these to demonstrate the future, but when Marlow purchased Hunter, they decided to drop the project. This boat was shown at European Boat Shows in 2012. The sailboat is a performance version Hunter 36E.The performance package adds a standard mast with solid vang, square top performance sail with 12% more area, spinnaker hardware(no pole), deep performance lead keel, upgraded winches and a traveler on the arch. The boat could use some detail work, but the mechanical condition is very good. When I purchased the boat, there were issues with the batteries and charging system, which I invested a considerable amount of time and energy repairing and upgrading. The electrical drive system is in very good condition and well tested. Chargers and batteries were replaced and upgraded. This is considered the "Hybrid" model, as it has a 35hp Vovlo generator onboard(325 hours). The generator can charge the battery bank on the fly, so you can keep motoring. The batteries will propel the boat 21.5 nautical miles at 5.0 knots(5.5 hours). With the addition of the generator and 50 gallons of diesel, range increases to 1079 nautical miles(215.5 hours). Efficiency in the hybrid mode is 21.5 MPG, compared to a standard 40hp diesel at 7.6 MPG! Top speed under power is 7 knots, but requires more amps and lowers range. The battery bank also charges from the spinning prop, so you regain energy while under sail. Surveyed in 2022
