Beautiful classic Edson Schock designed wooden cutter rigged yacht. Built in 1935 in Long Beach, California. One of an elite group of yachts from the Hollywood era, "Bright Star" was owned for a time by actor Dana Andrews. Constructed with fir planking over oak frames, Bright Star is 58 feet overall and has a beam of 13 feet. She draws 8 feet six inches. Her tall cutter rig still features the original Alaskan spruce spar and boom. Decks are Douglas fir. The bright work above and below decks is mahogany.
Renowned shipwright Jeff Rutherford, restored her in 1986. During the early 1990s Bright Star saw charter service in Mexico and the Pacific Northwest. In 1995, she was named the Best Restored Yacht at the Classic Boat Festival in Victoria, British Columbia.
Accommodations: a warm and comfortable interior features 3 separate sleeping cabins as well as pilot berth in main cabin, and can sleep up to 6-8 persons, with 2 enclosed heads (one with shower), full galley, and a beautiful salon features a dinette, with ample seating. Cozy and comfortable and excellent condition down below.

Bright Star has won SF Mariners Regatta five times more than any other yacht in the nearly 150 year history of the event (in 1991, 1999, 2000, 2004 and 2011). She was awarded the Stone Boatyard Perpetual Trophy as the Best Maintained Yacht at the 2000 Regatta and again in 2012.
Continuously rebuilt, refit and maintained by several dedicated owners and cared for by the best marine service people in the Bay Area since 1980's. Boat has been a respected member of the San Francisco wooden boat community since 1980's. Many race trophies to her credit.
