Description:
Up for sale is our 1985 Westsail 43 Ketch. She was kit built and sturdier than the typical Westsail. Full Keel, Large Rudder, Deck stepped masts.
We just completed a trip from Ensenada to San Quintin, MX and back and shes such a pleasure to sail. Were hoping to find someone who will continue her journey to a full restoration and a continuation of a cruising life. She is extremely comfortable to live on.

Asking $18k for a quick sale.

Paperwork
- Clean and clear Certificate of Documentation in my name
- Mexican insurance
- Slip is transferable to new Owner ($680 a month as of 2025)
- All ownership paperwork can be transferred while boat stays in Mexico using an agent
- Buyer will pay transfer costs of approx $1k (USCG paperwork, Mexican TIP, Agent fee)

Equipment:
The Good:
- Ketch rig with furling 130 Genoa (restitched in 2024) comes with newer spare 130 genoa. Multiple staysails including a mid weight furling staysail. Large mainsail in decent condition (could get another season out of it). Older Mizzen sail with a spare mizzen sail. Spinnaker sail also included.
- All running rigging and multiple blocks have been replaced and work well.
- Japanese Asahi, 2 speed winches throughout the boat. And serviced each year
- Clutches installed for the mainsail halyard and mizzen halyard.
- Satchel style, Revere 6 person liferaft in great shape. Last serviced in 2020
- 8 ft fiberglass rowing/sailing dinghy with very low hours 2 hp honda outboard
- 45 lb cqr anchor with 300 feet of 3/8 chain (in excellent condition and put in saltwater twice)
- 35 lb Vulcan anchor with 30 feet of 5/16 chain and 250 feet of new rode
- Hydraulic Steering with Bemar Course setter autopilot. Rebuilt motor in Nov 2025 and spare compass and selector onboard. Works well, however the boat needs more battery power to run it consistently
- 2 Trojan Deep cycle AGM 135 amp hour batteries for the house bank (never discharged and runs a fridge, nav lights, instruments with no issues)
- 2 start batteries (new in May 2025)
- 400 watts of solar installed in Nov 2025. BougeRV 200 watt bifacial panels with Victron charger for house battery bank.
- 50 watt panel and charge controller for trickle charging start batteries.
- Victron DC to DC charger from start batteries to house bank
- Apartment fridge and new drop in freezer (freezer is on 100 watt panel, Victron charge controller and new inverter for a completely separate system)
- Full and open concept galley with tons of counterspace and good storage. Including drop in ice back (no cold plate installed yet).
- Force 10 propane stove with dual 5 gallon propane tanks
- Six 25 gallon freshwater tanks (plastic) and newer fresh water pump
- No hot water heater
- Full shower with shower sump and working Lavac toilet (boat has never had a black water tank, needs on installed at some point)
- Nearly queen sized pullman style bed with lots of storage underneath
- Two smaller bunks in separate room under cockpit
- Tons of storage throughout the boat
- Full workshop up near the bow with built in storage drawers, workbench, parts and tool storage and line locker and paint locker
- Flopper stoppers, spare lines, spare parts etc etc etc
- Entire bow section of the deck was replaced with double decking of 1/2inch marine plywood and 3 layers of fiberglass (done in shipyard in Mexico in 2024)
- Stanchions are all rebed
- LED nav lighting
- New bottom paint (3 coats) in 2024
- New forward portlights (2025), Hatches all rebedded and new hatch over bedroom (2025)

The Bad
-Engine has low compression and could use a rebuild. Does run. (has all new hoses, belts, independent jabsco raw water pump, rebuilt starter, rebuilt alternators, newer fuel pump, newer racor filter housing
-It is a 4 cylinder Ford OSCO 172 cubic inch Diesel. Super easy to work on and I was quoted $800 for a rebuild kit and $3k for the rebuild here in Mexico. Parts are easily available for the motor
-Propeller shaft could use replacement at some point as the previous owner didnt change the zincs. Prop is new as of 2023 and diver comes every 6 months or as needed to scrub the bottom and replace the zinc since Ive owned it.
