23' Nye Yachts Alberg 22

We're gonna need a smaller boat!

You know the "Inverse Law of Boat Happiness," right? Well, actually more of a guideline. The Law states that the smaller your boat is, the happier you are with it.

The Alberg 22 is the finest example of Carl Alberg's small boats. Functionally equivalent to a Cape Dory 22 and yes, a great boat if you want to obey the Law of Inverse Boat Happiness.

Full keel, lots 'o ballast - tracks like a locomotive! Not the best under really light air (although she does alright in those conditions) but a solid performer in heavy air. Legend says that an Alberg 22 was the first sailboat to win the Mini-Transat.

So why am I selling this best of all 22 foot plastic boats? Well, I finally got a maximum 22 foot slip in the municipal marina here. So I thought - hey! Get an Alberg 22! Well, the municipal marina does not measure length on deck. No sir, they measure from the taffrail to the bowrail! Which adds 8 inches and disqualifies my boat!

So, like I wrote above - gonna need a smaller boat!

Okay, so the boat is for sale. I will show you the boat, but you have to be somewhat serious as she is an hour plus drive from where I live.

Oh, almost forgot to tell you - she comes with a sturdy tandem trailer. A friend of mine towed her for me. I was like, we'll crawl along at maybe 40? He was like, sure - yeah and decided to see how fast this boat would go! She went 90 mph! The tires on the left (port?) side hold air, but only for a week or so. You might want to get new ones.

Clear title for the boat, bill of sale for the trailer. Some exclusions, e.g. books and charts. Storage for winter paid. Good sails and a mighty air-cooled Honda 2.3 horsepower engine.

Now, I am also slowly outfitting my other boat that I intend to sail around the world. I came to realize since that boat has a mizzen, I can't use the usual Scanmar Monitor Self-Steering, which you can find a good used one for about $2k - no, I need their "Top Hat" model (which I have never seen for sale used) for $5,295.
