1978 Cape Dory 28 Classic Lake Michigan Cruiser

For sale: a beautifully maintained 1978 Cape Dory 28 in very good condition. This classic full-keel cruiser has spent its entire life on Lake Michigan and has been lovingly cared for by just three owners.

Ive owned her for the past five years, sailing primarily on the lower portion of the lake. During that time, she has seen approximately 20 days of sailing each season and only about 50 hours of engine use annually. She has been a dependable, capable, and rewarding boat in every respect.

This Cape Dory sails beautifully and handles a strong breeze with confidence and stability. Known for their stout construction and timeless lines, these boats are ideal for sailors who appreciate classic craftsmanship and solid performance on the water.

Life changes have created the need to sell, but this has been a difficult decision. She has brought us many memorable days on Lake Michigan, and Im confident her next owner will enjoy her just as much.

Below Deck...Articulating tablet holder extending into cockpit.Unimetric VHF(dated).Portal screens 2 yrs old.Settee and vbirth cusions in great shape and dry cleand 2 yrs ago.
Propulsion...Vovlo MD7A with unknown hours. I put no more than 250 hours in the last 5 years. Always reliable.
Sail inventory...North sails. Main 2 full 2 partial and 3 reef points. Less than 20 hrs. 95% slab reef jib. Less than 20 hrs. 150% genoa. Never out of the bag. Original genoa in decent shap. Drifter blew out in a jibe but along the seam of the foot and fixable.
Still have self tending jib setup.
