Proud Mary is a Pearson 39-2 performance cruising centerboard sailboat (PHRF 120) combining Bill Shaw's respected sailing design and shoal-draft versatility with extensive upgrades for reliability, easier handling, reduced maintenance, and extended cruising.
A Mabru 12-volt air-conditioning system capable of running overnight is supported by a professionally engineered 920Ah Epoch lithium house bank installed in 2025. The system includes Victron inverter/charging and monitoring, MPPT solar controllers, DC-to-DC charging, an ARCO 275-amp alternator with Zeus regulator, Charles isolation transformer, EGIS remote battery switching, solar charging, and a dedicated AGM engine-start battery.
Sailing equipment includes replaced standing rigging and turnbuckles, updated running rigging, a Harken electric winch for the mainsail halyard, sheet, and reefing lines, Harken roller furling, StackPack, removable Dyneema Solent stay with working jib, 135% radial-cut genoa, asymmetrical spinnaker, storm trysail, and storm jib. Lewmar self-tailing cockpit winches handle headsail trim.
B&G navigation includes dual 12-inch displays, radar, AIS, autopilot, depth, speed, and wind instruments, plus an Icom M604 VHF with CommandMic.
Additional upgrades include an Awlgrip hull, restored Coosa/Awlgrip deck, aluminum stern arch with solar array and dinghy hoist, custom swim platform, FeatherStream three-blade propeller, Maxwell windlass with 44-pound Rocna Vulcan anchor, replacement aluminum fuel tank, VETUS MAGNUS ocean-rated hatches, Lewmar opening portlights, Sea Frost refrigeration, VacuFlush toilet, Starlink, renewed centerboard system, inspected and rebedded chainplates, replaced bronze through-hulls, and a 3,700 GPH emergency bilge pump with high-water alarm.
