Maat is a 1991 Amel Santorin 46 sloop that has been owned and cruised by her current owners for the past seven years. During that time she has sailed from Brittany through the Mediterranean and on to the eastern and western Caribbean. She is now stored ashore at Peake Yacht Yard in Trinidad.
The Santorin was developed by Amel as a center-cockpit cruising yacht, and Maat is the sloop version with a single mast. Her interior has two private cabins and two heads, with an aft cabin, forward cabin, central saloon and galley to port. Tankage includes approximately 211 US gallons of fresh water, 87 US gallons of diesel and 11 US gallons of black water.
A number of the major cruising systems have been updated during the current ownership. The standing rigging was replaced in 2022, and the sail inventory includes a 2022 genoa, 2021 Hydranet Solent sail, mainsail, ballooner and spare mainsail. Both the mainsail and genoa have electric furling, and the boat retains the twin poles used for the genoa and ballooner.
Navigation equipment has also been updated and includes Raymarine Axiom 9-inch chartplotters at the cockpit and interior navigation station, Raymarine Quantum Doppler radar, AIS700 Class B AIS, i70s wind instrumentation and two Raymarine autopilot drives. Communications equipment includes fixed and handheld Icom VHF radios, Iridium satellite communications and Starlink.
The electrical system includes a 600Ah LiFePO4 house battery bank installed in 2020, approximately 1,000W of solar panels, two Victron Bluetooth MPPT controllers, a Victron MultiPlus 3000W inverter/charger and Victron Orion. A 70A alternator was installed in 2026.
Cruising equipment includes a Schenker ZEN 30 watermaker installed in 2022, Eberspcher 4kW diesel air heater, 12V refrigeration, separate freezer, electric and gas cooking equipment, 20-liter water heater and a hardtop bimini with shade curtains that can be fully enclosed. The ground tackle includes a 33kg Rocna primary anchor with 80m of 10mm chain and a Lofrans Tigres 1500W windlass. |
