It's bitter sweet, but it's time to let her go so I can bump up to the next project.
The Sea Monkey; she's the classic Coronado Yachts weekend sailer. Hull #45 is a hard working, fully functional pocket cruiser. Proven with a long history of California coastal sailing.
She has a rare, fixed, 600lb cast iron keel that keeps this boat very forgiving in rough conditions. She will sleep 3 comfortably, 4 if everyone knows each other well.
This is the boat you want if you're on a budget and you want to get out and do some peak adventure overnight sails around California with friends... now!
She's got her problems, and needs more work to fully restore her. What boat built in 1969 doesn't?
She was rescued from an almond grove, buried in leaves and filled with hornets nests; but was complete, with the original main sail. That was in 2012. Two years of work on the hard and some upgrades to make her Sea worthy and more importantly, trustworthy. She's proven herself with numerous trips out to the Farralons, Bodega Bay, Drakes Bay, and all throughout San Francisco bay and Delta. She's well rounded, starts right up and is ready to spend nights out on the hook or tied up at the far off marina, BBQing and enjoying what sailing is all about. |
