Description: Eclipse was conceived as a fast cruiser/racer, with spirit of tradition lines. There was no adherance to a rating rule in her design, rather she was simply intended to be wholesome and fast. She has good righting moment and carries her sailplan well in a breeze. She competed in Vic-Maui races in the 1990's averaging 10 knots for the course. She was put for sale in 2010 and purchased by the current owner with the intention of a complete refit, of which 95% is now complete. What follows is a list of most of the remedial work and improvements completed on Eclipse. Note to interested buyers, there is still some work needed before Eclipse is launched.

Work began in 2011 starting with improvements to the scantlings and aesthetics of the cabin top; it was completely removed along with all deck fittings, hatches and ports. All shipwright work was done to high-quality, best practice standards. The work expanded into a number of areas as outlined below

Refit items :

- All new mast partners in solid teak and silicone bronze bolts

- 7 new deck frames, cross sawn

- 2 layers of 3/8" quality ply with all joins nib-scafed,epoxy glued for new cabintop

- Final layer of 20 oz. woven rovings with Maas epoxy and faired

- All fasteners silicone bronze. Epoxy gluing and laminating done at prescribed temperatures

- All new teak eyebrows for cabin sides

- Beam for mainsheet traveler manufactured in carbon, installed on cabin top, relocating to Bob Perry original design

- New main hatch and hatch turtle manufactured in teak and carbon to maintain low profile aesthetic. new bronze slides.

- 10 new cast stainless steel ports manufactured by New Found Metals, Port Townsend

- 3 new Lewmar hatches replacing butterfly hatches

- Main Goiot forehatch removed, teak trim refitted, hatch rebedded.

- New Harken traveller

- Heads rebuilt with new sink/vanity lockers. Holding tank relocated into locker above head (same as passport 40 arrangement). Walls lined with panelling. Groco K series bronze toilet epoxy paint

- Reefing, mainsheet, halyard winches 1 x 40 STs, 2 x 43 STs, 2 x 46 STs

- Primary and secondary winches, 2 x 48 STs, 2 x 65 STs (3 speed)

Sails:

- Mainsail dacron cruising

- Mainsail dacron racing

- Genoa #2 furler

- Genoa #1 racing

- Jib #4

- Storm jib and trisail

- Light air drifter/windseeker

- Spinnaker staysail

- Spinnaker .75 oz running

- Spinnaker .75 oz reaching

Electronics:

- Icom HF marine radio, IC-M 600 with auto tuner

- JRC LCD radar 1500 mk 2

- Icom VHF radio with new masthead antenna

- Autohelm st50 wind/depth/speed instruments

Ground Tackle:

- 210' of 5/16th short-link highstrength chain

- 60 lb CQR plow, 33 lb Bruce anchor, collapsable fishermans anchor

- Large Danforth anchor (original main anchor)

- McMurry anchor windless

Completion tasks:

- Apply final 2 coats of 2-pack non-skid paint to cabin top

- Install teak eyebrows (provided, ready to fit)

- Install new Genoa tracks (provided)

- Bolt down existing mainsheet winch on cabintop, install fibergless tube into traveller beam for mainsheet to pass through

- Reinstall wheel steering, pedestal has been powder coated. Two different diameter steering wheels provided

- Reinstall refurbished bow sprit

- Reinstall existing anchor windless

- Purchase new bow roller arrangement from Port Townsend foundry. They have pattern for bowsprit and a stock of bronze fittings as part payment, alternatively refit anchor plate and hawser for danforth anchor

- Reinstall all electronics. JRC radome has already been mast mounted

- purchase and install new headsail furler when stepping rig.

- fit backstay with HFSSB insulators (if required)

- Install new Force Ten stove provided (still in box) run supply to and fit propane tank in lazarette

- Attach new locker lids with hinges and locks as provided. Holes routed etc ready to fit.

- Re-step refurbished mast, terminate rigging wire with norseman or swage screws buy new furler,

- Fuel tank empty but recommend remove clean and check for condition of taps. Under stb settee berth.

- finish installation of forward vanity plumbing and shower rose. Parts provided.


Additional Inventory in trailer:

- 2 x 13" cast stainless steel Perko deck vents, with new Dorade boxes.

- Edson steering system with Ritchie compass

- Edson binnacle-mounted throttle and gear levers

- Edson fiberglass instrument pod

- Large box engine spares

- Box of plumbing spares to complete new shower head arrangement

- 1x Spartite mast chock kit

- Felco C16 large wirecutters

- 2x large bolt cutters

- 2x shore power leads

- Emergency steering tiller

- Sundry boxes of fasteners, hardware and new & used running rigging

- Stock of large 3/16" stainless steel backing plates

- Near-new upholstry on all bunks

- Sundry teak pieces
