1985 Dean Catamaran 365 - 37ft blue water sailing catamaran project
Here is an opportunity for someone to own an awesome, world cruising, (multiple circumnavigations) catamaran (for someone who doesnt mind a little finishing work). It breaks our hearts to sell her, but sadly my husband and I dont have time to refinish her interior, which was damaged when a bilge pump failed and water damaged the bottom couple inches of cabinetry etc on the port side. We hauled her out, dried her out and got her prepped for some love, but our circumstances changed before we were not able to finish her. We stored her on the hard to prevent any future mishaps, and have sadly come to the realization that we will have to sell her.
Mostly cabinet refinishing, as well as installing the new (still in plastic) fridge and stove we bought for her, and laying new flooring on the port side, as well as replacing a section of wooden rub rail and a decent amount of scrubbing.
Or if you dont feel like doing it yourself, Ive had the work quoted from the Marina for around $7000, and have a quote from some independent contractors for around $4000.00. The same contractors are also crew and will deliver her pretty much anywhere you want them to for a reasonable price. (For example we were going to have her delivered to the Caribbean for $5000 plus expenses)
Dean Catamarans have an incredible safety record they arebuilt in Cape Town on the horn of Africa many of the Dean cats first sail was across the Atlantic to the Caribbean. Sloop rigged with overbuilt rigging she is easy to sail. Mehari's last owners bought her in the Mediterranean with no previous sailing experience and then after a little practice sailed her around the world with their 4 children. Shes an amazingly designed south african cat, who has circumnavigated with her previous owners multiple times. Excellent layout with 2 double cabins, 2 single berths and a large, full bath (not a wet shower, theres actually a little bathtub/shower). |
