Mysterious Ways is a beautiful example of one a Tom Colvin Junk Rig Schooner. Tom Colvin and his family famously sailed and lived aboard their Junk Rig Schooner for 11 years, the Kung Fu Tse.

This model, the Oothoon, was designed after the pirate boats around Hannan Island China. This particular vessel was built by Ben Kennebrew owner of K&K industries, a boat building company in Alaska. Originally built to work in the commercial fishing industry, she is made to withstand icy cold waters and her hull is not only fully insulated, but reinforced at the bow should the vessel encounter any ice. Later, she was converted into a successful day charter vessel.

Mysterious Ways is a true ocean-going vessel, and will get you where you want to go safely and comfortably. Her Junk Rig is exceptionally easy to handle, particularly short-handed and she will turn heads no matter where you are!

HULL: The vessel was built with steel hull plating with steel frames and steel decks. The cabin structure was also built in steel. The vessel has a full keel. The bow sprit is also constructed of mild steel pipe and welded to the bow. All railing is mild steel and welded into place. The front section of the bottom was lap straked with 1⁄4" steel plate for extra reinforcement.
-The bottom was painted in 2021 with three coats.
-All new Zincs were installed in 2021

-2020 Custom Made Tanbark Sails by Bacon Sails in Annapolis, Maryland. Main, Mizzen, and Foresail all replaced.
-Bamboo Battens lashed with 1/4" paracord
