Description: |
American Beauty for sale - but a long long way from home. This boat is located in DENMARK, EUROPE. Design by Phil Bolger 26 ft. American Cat-Yawl - 30 ft. including rudder and bowsprit. Build and fitted out by Paul Rodgers Shipyard, 1983-1985, Maine, USA. 5.600 man hours went into building this boat - no expense spared. Still in excellent condition - always cared for and stored inside off season. Originally build for a Boston banker who used it as a family boat for 20 years. Sold to his friend in Denmark where the boat is currently located, stored inside for the winter. Now for sale by 3th owner due to owners age ( 80). 'Bright Thread' was shipped to Denmark in 2004 on the deck of a cargo ship nesting in a cradle - it can be shipped back the same way - or it could be sailed. It's a wood boat, but very easy to maintain. Straight from the ship yacht in Maine the hull, deck and mast was laminated in epoxy. A bit of wax and polish and she is ready for another season on the water. This boat is mentioned in the designer Phil Bolger book 'Boats with an open mind'. To quote a blog writing about this boat: ".....By some accounts it is the most meticulously built of any of his boats." The current owner has asked me to help them sell it due to age (owners age) and health issues. Considering the new build cost and the current state of this boat I do believe this is a bargain.
