The Sparrow was our Dads sailboat. Before he died in 2004 he sailed the waters of Lake Michigan and Green Bay for years, enjoying the harbor towns and anchorages of the region. When he passed, my brothers and I put Sparrow into a storage building on the family farm, to be sailed only a couple of seasons since. Now I am in my 70s and the family farm is sold. It is time for Sparrow to be someone elses ticket for adventure. Sparrow is a 30 Ericson, with full keel, spacious decks and cockpit, private marine head and galley with gimbled stove and ice box for beverages and catch of the day. A solid sailor, Sparrow surges through the water with a hull speed of 7 knots, regardless of the waves height or direction. Equipped with the standard equipment typical of the 1970s, Sparrow navigated the big Lake with the aide of compass and paper charts, complemented by a VHF marine radio. Dead reckoning. Out from its accustomed storage building, Sparrow now shivers beneath a taught tarp, waiting for the snows to come to northern Wisconsin. It is my hope that a new Captain will take Sparrow to a snug berth for the winter and launch her in the Spring seeking new distant harbors, adventures yet to be discovered. If you are looking for a sailboat that will take care of you for seasons to come, please contact me to view Sparrow and judge her for yourself. |
